How to Organize Your Beauty Stash

Easy and Convenient Tips to Tame Glam Clutter

If your vanity drawers are overflowing with beauty samples you forgot you had, hair clips of every style and size, or necklaces that are a tangled mess, you’re in the right place.

This month, we’re tackling the glam clutter, with fun and easy organizing ideas that make your beauty routine smoother and your accessories shine.

1. Smart and Stylish Ways to Organize Hair Accessories

Hair ties, scrunchies, and clips have a way of disappearing, until you find them all at once in a random drawer. There are sooooo many fun, cute, and simple systems to keep everything visible and easy to grab. Try one—or several—of these solutions:

  • The Clip Bar — Hang clips and bows on a slim bar or ribbon so they stay in sight.

  • The Headband Hoop — Stack headbands on a paper‑towel holder or mug tree.

  • The Scrunchie Tower — Slide scrunchies onto a tall vase for pretty, easy access.

  • The Magnetic Strip Trick — A magnetic strip catches bobby pins instantly.

  • The Mason Jar Showcase — Group accessories by colour and place them in dedicated jars.

I love how many of these ideas involve repurposing items you already have at home. It makes organizing your collection more convenient and saves you money too!

2. Kickin' It Old-school

Tangled necklaces and lost earrings have been driving accessory lovers crazy for decades. Last year, during an estate clear‑out for a centenarian, I found her jewelry perfectly sorted in an ingenious way… using ice cube trays!

All you need is a simple divided container like an ice cube tray, silicone mold, or bead organizer. Then, give each compartment one job: earrings together, rings solo, delicate bracelets in their own slot.

I love how separating pieces prevents tangling and scratching, and the shallow compartments make it easy to see everything at a glance. It’s a tiny system with big wisdom behind it.

3. Sample Station Carousel

Online shopping has changed our lives, for better or worse. When it comes to beauty and skincare products, these purchases often come with samples that you didn’t necessarily want or need. But, it’s hard to say no to a freebie, isn’t it?! So, you jam them in a random pouch or throw them loose in a drawer, not knowing what to do with them.

Instead of letting cosmetic samples pile up, give them a dedicated spot.

  • Start with A small, tiered spice rack or a rotating makeup organizer. They make it easier to see everything at once, so you’re more likely to use what you have before it expires.

  • Next, group samples into categories: skincare (serums, moisturizers, masks), makeup (lipsticks, mini palettes, mascaras), and fragrance (vials, mini sprays).

Hot Tip

Sample Sunday

Choose one day of the week, like an easy breezy Sunday, to try out and use up some of your samples.
