Less is More!
“Too much of something is bad enough”…but holding on to it makes it so much worse! It’s not just true for the Spice Girls. When it comes to organizing, our mantra is: Less is More.
Less stuff = more space, more peace, and more freedom.
So, if “something’s coming over you”, take a moment to “wonder” if you might have too many of some of these items.
1. Reusable Bags
How many times have you forgotten to bring reusable bags and had to buy new ones at the store?
It’s time to downsize and donate them. Try the Terra Centre.
2. Clothes Hangers
Do you have an excess of hangers that severely outnumber how many clothes you have? Or, are there annoying hangers you avoid using but continue to take up valuable space in your closet?
Box them up (or use one of your handy reusable bags) and donate them. Goodwill will take them.
3. Pens and Stationary
What about an abundance of pens collected from free swag, or from buying new school supplies every year? Trust us, you probably don’t need 100 pens in your house.
Good news! The Reuse Centre accepts them and has teamed up with Eco Stations, where you can drop them off conveniently, and free of charge.
4. Linens
Do you have piles of linens? It might be time to get rid of the ones you don’t reach for anymore or the more worn out ones. Some community outreach programs welcome good condition, pre-loved linens.
Drop by the Care Closet’s donation bin. Lifemark Vocational Services isn’t a donation centre, but they do accept linen donations directly from us.
5. Old China
Did you inherit some fine china? Unless you regularly host Bridgerton or Downton Abbey theme parties, I bet it’s all just sitting in a box somewhere. Maybe you’ve kept it for sentimental reasons, or just because it’s pretty. If so, keep one or two pieces and donate the rest.
Or, try selling it! There’s a market for it and we can help you sell it.
Hopefully, after reading this, you’ll feel empowered to finally deal with items you know you have too many of, but didn’t quite know how to deal with them.
Can you find more items in your home like these?
